Unfortunately, I have deep familiarity with narcissistic nastiness. With both parents leaning in that direction, one more than the other thank goodness, I know how to listen to them, cater to them, tend to them, navigate around them….you get the picture. I continue to be drawn to them, and not in a good way, although I am very happy to report my inner warning light starts to flash these days and I’m better able to manoeuvre appropriately as an adult than I had competence as a child. Nevertheless, like countless others, I continue to find people who are either full-blown or appear on the continuum to be challenging. To say the least.
I came across this blog recently and thought it had some really useful reminders for those struggling to make sense of someone’s choices and actions. Thanks to Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic and the Harvard Business Review.
