I’ve been researching and writing about resilience recently – the ability to bounce back from adversity. Some people seem to have innate skill here, others less so. Piques my curiousity. How is it that some people naturally interpret failures as opportunities for growth, while others feel devastated and have difficulty moving on?
My colleague and teacher at Strozzi Institute, Staci K. Haines, has just published this two-part article on resilience, coming of course from a somatic perspective. I appreciate the way she describes the role of trauma arresting its development, the difference between resilience strategies and our conditioned tendencies, a place I definitely look when working with my clients.
