Welcome!
My name is Clare Myatt and I am a somatic coach-therapist and
supervisor trained in the US and UK.
Why Somatic Coaching?
Originally trained as a psychotherapist in California in the 1990’s, I discovered somatic coaching soon after and have been integrating the breadth of coaching and depth of therapy in the decades since. Some clients come to me for coaching and uncover therapeutic issues lying in wait, others come for therapy and find their concerns are complimented by a coaching approach.
Whether we’re focusing more on therapeutic issues or coaching concerns, there is one commonality: the body. In the words of the American professor emeritus Jon Kabat-Zinn “wherever you go, there you are.” That’s why I’m committed to a somatic approach – no matter what you do or want to do, the body determines your capacity, competence, potential, motivation and implementation.
If you want to shift the way you are, the way you feel, the way you are perceived, then a holistic approach incorporating the power of the body-mind-spirit is essential, in other words a somatic approach. “Soma” is the Greek word for the “body” in its wholeness; not just skin and bone, but the body in its aliveness, the complex web of neurology, psychology and biology intertwining like the weave of a fabric.
By bringing attention to the body, being aware of your breathing, posture, and internal experience, the body becomes a resource rather than simply a vehicle for the head, enabling us to lead our own lives, families or others in organizations.

I am one of those fortunate people who loves what they do and I truly look forward to connecting with you to explore the possibilities ahead.

Floating
Floatworks pod F l o a t i n g. Weightless, warm, quiet, soothed, calming. Inviting? Especially at the end of a long day, gruelling week, or perhaps middle of the day to boost creativity? I need no excuse to head to Vauxhall’s tube station and the few steps to...
What we can learn from athletes
A new book called The Golden Rules by Bob Bowman looks promising. Bob Bowman is a sports psychologist and swim coach, known for his work with one of the most decorated of Olympic athletes, Michael Phelps (22 medals, 18 of them gold). I don't know if he's...
Trauma Resource
I'm most impressed with Heidi Hanson's extensive website and offer it here as a trauma resource. Deeply familiar with trauma, from a personal and professional perspective, I am always on the hunt for information and support for recovery. Heidi has thoroughly...
